Treating Heart Failure in Dogs and Cats

One cause of death among dogs and cats is heart failure.
Before knowing about the treatment options available, a fast run through of the condition is necessary. First, there's types of heart failure -- left-sided and right-sided heart failure. The former is characterized by signs related to the respiratory process like liquid in the lungs which will be manifested by coughing, among others. The right-sided heart failure leads to systematic signs like edema on the extremities.

There are several medications that are used to alleviate the signs of the condition. When the signs are regulated, the pet will be able to live as normally as feasible.

As earlier specified, the objective of treatment of heart failure is improving the quality of life that pets will have by reducing the severity of signs and controlling them.
