5 Pet Grooming Mistakes

1. Using tranquilizers.
This is illegal in plenty of states but other groomersstill use them. It may be that the groomer isafraid of aggressive canines but it is more likelyto be that the groomer is jogging a productionline and has no time to calm nervous canines.

2. Leaving canines unattended.
I seldom recommend tranquilizers - no matter howmild - for tiny canines. Ask your groomer if theyor they does this.

You might be surprised at how plenty of canines areharmed and even killed at salons. The issueis plenty of groomers use a grooming noose (not asbad as it sounds!) or collar to attach the dogto the grooming table.

If the groomer leaves the dog alone, it is simplefor a dog to try to free himself and wind upchoking or damaging his neck.

It is more time consuming and requires more skillto scissor than clip canines. However, if yourbreed standard or style requires a scissor cut,you ought to tell the groomer you require this.

3. Taking shortcuts that violate breed standards.
In case you don't speak up, they are going to most likely use aclipper. And in case you expect hand stripping, you better call ahead to make sure there isa groomer in the shop that even knows how to do that.

4. Not having facilities for canines left all day.
In case you require to drop your dog off on the wayto work, visit the salon in advance and askto be shown where the dog will be housed whilehe is waiting for you and what care they will given.

This is only partly the groomers fault as plenty ofshops are not set up to provide day carefor canines, but owners use them that way. Someshops do not have sufficient cages, freshwatersupplies, or staff to walk canines.

Plenty of canines every year are injured or killed bygroomers not watching closely while the petis in an enclosed dryer.

5. Using dog dryers improperly.
Because of poor airflow and high temperatures, pets get overheated in enclosed cages. The heatbasically builds up and the dog is overcome or inextreme cases the dog may be burned by the pansand the cages themselves as they get hotter andhotter.
