Here are some basic, simple tips to keep your pet healthy and happy.
1. Tasty ; Nourishing Food
Your pets, like everything else, need food & water on a regular basis. The amount of food & water will be contingent on your pet. Canines tend to be more active than felines, so they need a bigger portion of food & water. Smaller caged pets like hamsters & fish don't need lots of food by comparison. Discover a kind of food your pet enjoys & make positive to give it to him regularly.
2. A Comfortable Place to Sleep
In general, pets keep different hours than their owners, sleeping when bored or worn out. Have a place for your pet to rest, whether it is a comfortable couch, a pad on the floor, or a roomy cage. Your pet will appreciate a nice bed as much as you do, & having that constant place of comfort will keep them happy. If your pet has his own cage or tank, keeping it neat is as important as feeding.
3. A Place to Do His "Business"
Nobody likes finding a "present" on the floor when they get home, so teach your pet where it is acceptable to do his business. Felines will need a litter box that is kept comparatively neat, fish have their tank, & hamsters have a cage. Your dog will need to be taught to go on a newspaper or pad you set down, or to only go outside. A doggie door is another alternative.
4. Opportunities to Play
as people don't usually enjoy sitting around all day, your pet doesn't either. Take your pet for walks or a romp in the park. Playing games like fetch can be both thrilling & healthy for you & your pet. If your housing permits, letting your pet play outside for some time can have the same effect. A running wheel or a tubed, multi-room cage can keep your hamster entertained, & a scratching post will your cat to no finish.
5. Love and Affection
The key part of owning a pet is ensuring it is loved & appreciated. Sometimes your pet wishes to be held. Your pet has a bond with you & loves you dearly. Make positive that love is returned & you'll have a friendship nothing can hurt. Enjoy your pets & treat them well, & you life will be better for it.
